To keep busy during Covid-19 distancing during the summer of 2020, I decided to do several small home projects including:
Remodeling the master bathroom vanity area including:
1/2 Bath cherry vanity raised by 6" allowing a new cherry drawer to be added. New quartz countertop.
Small closet and vanity countertop removed
The heavy stuff....
4,000 lbs concrete unloaded, mixed and poured on site for footings
2,000 lbs of #4 and 4,000 lbs of #8 driveway gravel placed around form-a-drain for drainage.
12,000 lbs of concrete pumped for foundation walls
Broke up and moved about 3000 lbs of concrete from wash-out
6,000 lbs of pea gravel for crawl space
6,000 lbs of topsoil spread
Spent $83/ sq. ft. so far and should come in under $90.
The big ticket items were renting the excavator for a week (it was a lot of fun and used it for some other jobs around the yard) and pumping in concrete for foundation wall.
From submission of application for permit to completion of exterior including 5 normal building inspections was 80 days.
Thanks to my wife, Chris, Dan, and Jason who helped,
Kathy helped a lot. She spread a lot of dirt, moved a lot of stone and bags of concrete, installed some rebar chairs, ties, and still plate bolts, installed some metal ceiling joist ties installation, helped with Tyvek installation, installed all the Styrofoam, and helped with painting. She also did a lot of the assembly of the cement mixer. My biking buddy Chris helped with excavation, spreading dirt, floor decking, wall framing, rafters, and breaking up concrete washout. Dan (a neighbor) helped with hip roof rafters and OSB sheathing installation. (Even north of 70, he was cat-like on the ceiling joists.) My next door neighbor, Jason helped with lifting and fastening the 77 lb reinforced concrete siding Hardie panels as well as some footing and foundation wall rebar tying.
